Arsenal & Man City eyeing deal for Newcastle United star

Arsenal and Manchester City could go head-to-head to sign Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Cityzens are currently prioritising the transfer of Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson and have no plans of meeting the £100 million price tag for the England international.

If Forest are reluctant to lower their demands for the 23-year-old, the Cityzens could turn their attention to landing Tonali from the Magpies this summer.

However, they won't be alone in the pursuit as the Gunners could return for the Italy international, having been previously linked at the start of the year.

Tonali has been fully committed to the Magpies over the past few years, and he is now determined to join a Champions League outfit this summer.

No formal bids have been placed on the table, but the Magpies could be prepared to sanction his sale for around £80 million in the coming weeks.

Tonali has also been linked with Manchester United, but the Red Devils have no plans of entering a bidding war for the former AC Milan star.
