Aston Villa boss Alex Mcleish has made an offer to Matthew Upson, the free agent who was released from West Ham at the end of last season.
Upson has been offered a three year contract at Villa Park by McLeish and is currently considering his options.
Upson has also been linked with moves to Premier League newcomers Swansea and QPR, but a deal failed to materialize.
Upson is expected to complete a move before the end of next week.
