Manchester United are prepared to beat Arsenal in the pursuit of Bournemouth winger Marcus Tavernier at the turn of the year, according to Givemesport.
The Red Devils have lacked the cutting edge in the final third this campaign, and they are presently 18th in the league standings with just seven points on the board.
The club are bound to invest in more quality in the next transfer window, and it is claimed that Tavernier has emerged as a top target for the Red Devils' hierarchy.
Arsenal are also keeping tabs on the 27-year-old attacker, but United remain optimistic that they can prise him away ahead of the Gunners.
Bournemouth have no desire to part ways with Tavernier in January, but their resolve could be tested with a huge transfer offer this winter.
It could take a package of around £50 million to tempt the Cherries to consider selling Tavernier, who has netted six goals so far this term.
