Man Utd to resume left-back search

Man Utd targeting new left-back for January

07 November 2026 - 21:45

Manchester United are prepared to invest in a new left-back when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.

  • Confirmed Arsenal line-up vs Hull City, Christos Tzolis starts
  • Xabi Alonso confirms 20yo Chelsea star out for weeks

  • The Red Devils were touted to land a new left-back last summer, but could not find a suitable solution before the deadline.

Newcastle United's Lewis Hall was under consideration, but the Magpies made it clear that he was not for sale.

Hall has since penned a new long-term deal with the Magpies without a clause, and he could stay for many seasons.

Club Brugge's Joaquin Sey was another top name on the club's radar, but the Belgian champions opted against his sale too.

Brugge prefer to listen to offers at the end of the campaign, but United could yet test their resolve at the start of 2027.

Seys was valued at £30m last summer and it may take a higher fee to prise him away at the midway stage of the season.

United currently have Luke Shaw (injured) and Patrick Dorgu as left-back choices, but the latter could leave when his contract expires next June.
