Wenger confident Arsenal can still succeed

25 August 2011 - 01:08

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes that the club are still in a position where they can compete with the very best, despite the departures of Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Arsenal will enjoy their 14th consecutive season in the Champions League after a 3-1 aggregate victory over Udinese tonight.

Arsenal boss Wenger admitted that new signings were needed, but remains confident in his current batch: "When a big player leaves, there is an opportunity for someone to come in and show how good he is. I am long enough in the game to know that and to know my players are strong enough to deal with that. I believe we have always promoted players from inside. That is what we will continue to do. If we find the right players to strengthen our squad we will do it no matter the result on Wednesday night. We will be in the market to find one or two players to strengthen our squad, but we keep our basic values no matter what happens with the promotion of internal young players.”
