Barca After Jordi Alba

Barca After Jordi Alba

14 October 2011 - 20:44

A report by Las Provincias claims that Catalan giants Barcelona are reportedly interested in Valencia left back Jordi Alba and are eyeing him as a possible replacement for Eric Abidal.

  • Confirmed Man Utd line-up vs Liverpool, Matheus Cunha starts
  • Chelsea quoted price to sign Igor Thiago
  • Alba has cemented his place in the Valencia starting XI and has put in a few impressive performances this season.

He was recently called up to the Spanish national squad and started in their 3-1 victory against Scotland.

Abidal has only months remaining on his current contract as it expires at the end of the season and is yet to sign an extension. PSG and AC Milan are both interested in signing him, thus leaving a slot open in the Barcelona defence.

Guardiola is keen to have former youth team player Alba back in his team to take Abidal's place.

Alba has made five appearances for Valencia in all competitions this season.
