Milan deny Montolivo interest

28 October 2011 - 15:48

AC Milan have denied showing interest in Fiorentina midfielder Riccardo Montolivo, with CEO Adriano Galliani clearly stating that the club will not open its cheque book in January.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Montolivo's contract expires at the end of the year and a whole host of teams have lined up for his signature, with Bayern Munich, Roma and Milan reportedly leading the pack.

However, Galliani appeared clueless when asked about the possibility of such a move.

"Montolivo in January? I don't think we will be making any move in January," he said to Milannews.it.

"Last year we decided to move on the transfer market because we had a high number of injuries.

"But, when Clarence Seedorf, Gennaro Gattuso and Mathieu Flamini return we will be fine in midfield."
