Mancini slams Liverpool over red card

28 November 2011 - 07:02

An angry Roberto Mancini hit out at Liverpool after the 1-1 draw with Man City on Sunday evening, and insisted the Anfield side tried their best to get Italian international Mario Balotelli sent off.

 • Enzo Fernandez wants to leave Chelsea
 • Man Utd set to hold contract talks with experienced star
 • The Italian striker received his marching orders after picking up two yellow cards in the space of only 19 minutes.
But Mancini defended his troubled Italian striker, insisting that Liverpool cheated him into a red card.
"I do not agree with this [second] yellow," Mancini said. "The referee didn't want to get a yellow card out.
"I think the referee gave a free-kick but didn't want to give a yellow until all the Liverpool players complained.
"I watched the replay and, for me, it is nothing."
