Tottenham admit move for Cahill likely

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp admits that a move for Bolton defender Gary Cahill is a real possibility once the transfer window reopens in January.

Bolton's defender is out of contract in the summer, and the Trotters face looking the player for free come next July.<br />

Tottenham are instead preparing an 8m GBP offer for Cahill in January, and Redknapp revealed discussions with club chairman Daniel Levy are ongoing.<br />

"We were dead keen in the last window but couldn't quite get there," said Redknapp. "He's out of contract in the summer and I'm sure plenty of people will want him again.<br />

"He's a good character and I tell the chairman here that's so important."
