Everton look at Thierry Henry

Everton look at Thierry Henry

12 December 2011 - 17:33

Everton boss David Moyes has admitted to casually asking former Arsenal superstar Thierry Henry if he would be interested in a loan move to Goodison Park.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Henry was present at the Emirates this past Sunday, as he was honoured with a statue on the club's 125th anniversary.

Henry made his name as a player at Arsenal, and is currently their all time top goalscorer with 226 goals in all competitions. He joined Barcelona in 2007 and had further success before moving on to MLS side New York Red Bulls.

Although 34, he is still considered by many as a top quality forward, and with Everton having next to no funds to spend in the winter transfer window, David Moyes' move outlines his desperation.

'I already asked him (Henry) on the way in. I asked him, he'll tell you; if he wants a game let me know,' he explained.

Everton have struggled to score goals this season, having scored only 15 goals in their 14 games. Their forward line up has been woefully out of form and the team is in dire need of freshness.

Everton have a history of loaning stars from the MLS, with Landon Donovan having a short stint at the club in January 2010. However, Moyes may be forced to look to his own squad for a goal threat.

"We're trying (to score more goals), we're looking around the club to see if we can solve that," Moyes said. "We have done it with some young players and tried to look at other solutions. It's a manager's job to find it if you can't get it from anywhere else."
