16 October 2007 - 18:38

Spanish side Sevilla have been invited to join the G-14 group of clubs. The organisation will also contact Roma from Serie A in Italy, Monaco from the French Ligue 1 and Werder Bremen from the German Bundesliga. The G-14 had previously revealed that English Premier League outfit Chelsea would be invited to join the expanded grouping of elite European clubs.

  • Invitations will be sent out to around 50 clubs spread across 23 countries later this week, including the 18 current members of the G-14.

"The new organisation will have the same concept as the previous body - to protect the rights of its member clubs," said G-14 communications manager Derek McGlynn.

"The invitations will be sent out this week and the plan is to have a meeting with everyone towards the end of this year, probably in November."
