Blackburn defender Michel Salgado has told reporters that he will not be taking part in this week's game against Bolton, as his club cannot afford to offer him a new contract.
As one of the clauses in the Spaniard's contract, Salgado can expect a new deal for another season should he play enough games. Blackburn have since decided to leave the player out of action for the game against Bolton.
"I want the fans to know all I want to do is help the team and help Blackburn survive in the Premier League, but the owners and manager aren't allowing me to do this," Salgado said. "I'm fit to play but I have been given five days off instead."
