Chelsea have been left reeling by a double injury blow after captain John Terry underwent a knee operation on his return from England duty. The Chelsea and England captain is expected to be missing for some time.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Terry is expected to be sidelined for up to three weeks while England left-back Ashley Cole has been ruled out for at least a month with ankle ligament damage.

Coach Avram Grant confirmed: "John Terry had an operation (on Friday) and will be out for two or three weeks. Ashley Cole is injured as well and he is likely to be out for four weeks."

He added: "John had a problem and tried his best to be available for the national team but in the last moment of the training, he got injured again.

"He had the operation and I hope everything will be well."
