Manchester United have been credited with a move for Basel midfielder Granit Xhaka, the player who has been linked with a number of top European sides including Palermo and Chelsea.

However, it appears Man Utd are in pole position to secure Xhaka's coveted signature.<br />

Georg Heitz, the sports director of Basel, told Calciomercato.com: "I do not like naming names, I can only say there's many clubs who follow him, not just these."
