Redknapp tells FA to delay England job decision

18 February 2012 - 05:23

The front runner to take the vacant England manager's hotseat, Harry Redknapp, has told the FA that they should wait until the current Premier League season is over before deciding Fabio Capello's successor. Redknapp is currently managing Tottenham and hopes to ensure Champions League qualification for next year through finishing in the top four.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • Redknapp has told the FA that they should wait before making any announcement. Yesterday, another favourite for the position, Guus Hiddink, took the manager's job of ambitious Russian side Anzhi.

"It would be easier for everybody (if the FA waited until the end of the season)," Redknapp said. "Whoever they go for, they will probably be in a job anyway so it's going to be difficult for them to walk out of their clubs at this stage of the year. It wouldn't be fair, whatever happened or whoever was asked."
