Drogba to join Chinese club for a lucrative deal

21 April 2012 - 10:20

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba could leave the club in the summer and join Chinese outfit Shanghai Shenhua on a £6.7million-a-year deal. The 34-year old will join former Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka in Shanghai.

  • Anelka is currently a player-manager at the Chinese club and is eager to lure his former team-mate to the club. The Shanghai club had recently sacked their manager Jean Tigana and appointed Anelka as the boss. Anelka said "I hope he joins us quickly. It is up to the club to see if we have the right means."

Drogba has been offered a one-year contract at Chelsea, however, the Ivory Coast striker seemed to be not interested. He will be out-of-contract at the end of the season and could move to Asia for a lucrative deal. Shenhua has been tracking Drogba for the last two seasons.
