Welbeck signs new 5 year Man Utd contract

22 April 2012 - 09:54

Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck has ended talk of a move away from Old Trafford this summer, as he put pen to paper on a brand new 5 year contract with the Reds worth a reported £45,000 per week.

  • The England international striker has been one of the emerging young talents from Old Trafford in recent years, and Sir Alex Ferguson was desperate to tie the forward down to a new deal.

According to reports, Welbeck had been reluctant to sign a new deal up until a few weeks ago, as both parties were reportedly some way off in agreeing a salary.

The 21 year old striker's current contract is due to expire at the end of the year, but Welbeck had no plans to leave Old Trafford after Sir Alex Ferguson guaranteed that Welbeck would be an important part of the first team for many years.
