Liverpool to announce manager on Friday

30 May 2012 - 05:21

Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) will announce their new manager on Friday evening. The club have already been locked in talks with Roberto Martinez of Wigan, whilst Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers is also in the frame.

  • Why Reece James is absent for Chelsea vs Leeds tonight?
  • Confirmed Man Utd line-up (4-2-3-1) vs West Ham, Mbeumo starts

  • However, Liverpool have also been linked with moves for former Schalke boss Ralf Rangnick, whilst former manager Rafa Benitez remains in contention.

Initially, Martinez had been widely tipped as the front runner for the role, but after talks in Miami with club owner John W Henry; the American owners turned their attentions elsewhere.

Brendan Rodgers has continuously suggested that he would not be interested in a move away from Swansea, but Anfield would be a hard offer to turn down for the Northern Irishman.
