Lille defender Mathieu Debuchy admitted that he is still interested in making a move to Newcastle should the offer be available, but also insisted he is happy to stay at the French club for the time being.
A move to Newcastle fell through at the last minute during the summer, and Alan Pardew was forced to turn his attentions to other transfer targets.
There had been some talk of a renewed approach from the Toon Army this January, and Debuchy admitted that he had been interested on a move during last summer: "I fought to go to Newcastle, the President didn't want that.
"I didn't want to clash with him. I don't have any regrets. I had regular contact with the people from Newcastle, there were several offers of over €6m. The episode is past, I am 200 percent for Lille."
