Wenger rules out Theo Walcott exit talk

19 November 2012 - 07:54

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has no plans to let Theo Walcott leave the Emirates in January, despite the English winger's contract expiring at the end of the season. Walcott is free to leave in the summer to a rival Premier League club.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Spurs, Gilchrist starts
  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs

  • However, Wenger wants to keep Walcott at the club throughout January despite his contract situation.

"Will he stay until the end of the season? Yes," Wenger said. "My intention has always been to keep Theo. We continue to talk and the ambition is to find an agreement.

"At the moment, we don't have that agreement, but we have until the end of December to resolve this. I am always optimistic. I talk to Theo every day, but not always about his contract. I let his agents deal with that."
