Aston Villa fail in Philippe Coutinho bid

10 January 2013 - 05:52

Aston Villa have failed in their efforts to sign Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho. The Inter Milan star joined the Italian side in 2010 from Vasco de Gama and will stay at the San Siro.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • Villa manager Paul Lambert has been given a transfer fund of around €15 million for the January transfer window, and wants to spend the vast majority of that on signing Coutinho.

However, according to reports emanating from the Italian press; Inter Milan have rebuffed an offer made by the Villains in the region of around €10 million.

Coutinho spent last season on loan at Spanish side Espanyol, but has since returned to Inter and is now an important member of the first team squad.
