Wenger praises Gunners

23 October 2007 - 22:27

Arsene Wenger has spoken of his delight after seeing Arsenal romp to a 7-0 victory over Czech minnows Slavia Prague in the Champions League on Tuesday. Wenger praised young Theo Walcott for his outstanding contribution throughout the game.

  • Enzo Fernandez wants to leave Chelsea
  • Man Utd can finally sign Ederson for huge bargain fee
  • "Theo took a while to get into the game - but once he scored the goal, you saw him much more," said Wenger on Theo Walcott.

"When the space opened up behind them you could see his pace and also that he is clinical in front of goal.

"He did not panic with the first one - and with the second goal, there was a really clinical finish."

With 12 consecutive victories in all competitions, Arsenal are on their best run of form since 2003/2004, and Wenger was quick to praise this young side.

Wenger said: "The players enjoy the way they play, at a high tempo - and that is a joy to watch.

"Overall there is a happiness in the team to play together.

"There is still more to come from this team. Can we keep our humility and feet on the ground? Can we continue to enjoy what we do? Then I feel we can develop.

"We have seen some great performances, but still everyone is improving."
