Chelsea have contacted the agent of Poland and Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski. The striker scored four goals against Real Madrid in last week's Champions League semi-final.
It's understood that Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson instructed his club representatives to make contact with the player's agent to discuss terms over a deal that would bring the Pole to Old Trafford.
However, it seems apparent that United were quickly rebuffed in their efforts to lure the player to Manchester, and Sir Alex Ferguson admitted a couple of weeks ago that it seems Lewandowski has already agreed terms with a club.
Bayern Munich are one team interested in Lewandowski, but it seems unlikely the player will make a move to Dortmund's Bavarian rivals.
Some news that has recently been filtered through this week is that Chelsea are the team most likely to sign the striker at the end of the season, as Roman Abramovich has offered the player a massive 110,000 GBP per week to move to London.
