Arsenal monitoring Cristian Tello

Arsenal monitoring Cristian Tello

22 June 2013 - 03:51

The Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is hoping to make a move for the Catalan forward Cristian Tello to the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal are preparing a bid to sign Tello as Arsene Wenger continues to pursue a countless number of summer transfer targets.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • Wenger is keen to enrol his interest in the 21 year old attacker in the learning that Tello’s side are seeking to tie him up to a new contract that would enhance his release clause.

Barcelona have learned from the lapse having been unsuccessful to alter Thiago Alcantara’s contract, leaving the Spanish international to be available for as little as £17m due to a lack of first team opportunities which resulted in a far higher clause not being compelled.

Similarly Tello’s contract demands an incremental increase in his release clause based on the number of games he participates in but having so far been unsuccessful to do so and is now available for just 8.5m. Wenger is eager to make an offer before a new deal makes the move more insufficient.

Wenger is willing to provide the Spanish Under 21 international assurances of a prominent role in the Arsenal first team next season, as well as offer him a hefty pay rise, one which the Arsenal manager feels he can afford due to the relatively low cost of the transfer.

The Barcelona starlet made just 12 La Liga starts last season and with the arrival of Neymar, his chances of playing are even more limited at the Catalan side.

Arsene Wenger is looking to offload his attacking options with the likes of Maroune Chamakh, Gervinho , Nicklas Bendtner and Chu-Young Park likely to exit from the club.

The Arsenal Boss would be hoping to persuade Tello that he would have a long term future at the club which would be more successful than at the Catalan club where he is just a bit-part player.
