Skrtel's Agent Downplays Napoli Switch Possibility

22 June 2013 - 14:40

The agent of Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel, Karol Csonto has strongly played down the possibilities of his client’s possible move to Napoli this summer. He insists that the suitors Napoli are unlikely to be able to afford him.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts
  • Chelsea suffer double injury blow ahead of Villa trip

  • "Napoli? I think they haven't the financial possibilities to take him. Liverpool has not decided a price because they don't intend to sell the player. Anyway, I don't think that Napoli can afford his wage."

Csonto earlier revealed that he was all set for talks with Liverpool about Skrtel’s future with them who admitted his frustration having lost his place in the first team.

It had been suggested that Rafa Benitez, who brought in the player to his former club Liverpool in 2008 from Zenit St Petersburg is keen on landing him to his new club Napoli but the agent strongly doubts their potential to afford Skrtel’s transfer.

"Martin to move away from Liverpool? I specifically say that Skrtel has never said he wants to go away, then it depends on the Liverpool market because everything could change”

"It's true that the last two seasons were difficult but in football it can happen.
