Fiorentina Target David Villa

22 June 2013 - 15:22

Tottenham will have to face a stiff contention from Italians Fiorentina in their pursuit of capturing Barcelona striker David Villa’s transfer. It has been suggested by Spanish press that the Serie A club who expect to sell their star striker Stevan Jovetic this summer are prepared to place an 8.5million pounds bid for the Spaniard.

  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Villa, who has long been linked with a Premier League move for long has now been given an assent by Nou Camp to leave in search of regular football that will help him stay in the national squad for the next World Cup. After Neymar’s entry to his side, his regular appearances for the side are doubtful, considering the injuries he had to go through. Barcelona are looking to give Messi-Neymar duo the pivotal role for the attacking division of the team.

The 31-year-old has been targeted by Tottenham and their arch-rivals Arsenal and Liverpool. Spurs are reportedly looking for reinforcements for the team with only Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermain Defoe as their senior strikers.

    Villa’s agent, Victor Onate comments:

"David Villa [to] Fiorentina? A fascinating project"

He added, "Talk about a formal interest from Fiorentina is excessive but we know the type of project they have in mind.
