Arsenal reject Dortmund offer for Podolski

Arsenal reject Dortmund offer for Podolski

23 June 2013 - 12:22

Arsenal have reportedly rejected a £10 million offer from Borussia Dortmund for Germany international striker Lukas Podolski. Dortmund have already sold Mario Goetze this summer whilst Robert Lewandowski's future at the club remains in some doubt. Now the German side could make an approach for Podolski as a possible replacement.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • The Gunners paid £11 million for the striker last year when he made his transfer from Cologne, since then the striker has mainly operated as a second choice striker behind French international Oliver Giroud.

Recently, Podolski told reporters that he was happy to stay at the Emirates for the time being: "I feel very comfortable and I am completely satisfied with my first year in England. I have no intention to leave the club."

However, the interest of Dortmund in Podolski could intensify over the next few weeks if, as expected, Robert Lewandowski is allowed to leave the club.

Arsenal are also considering a move for Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid, which would see Podolski pushed further down the pecking order as third choice striker.

According to reports though, Dortmund will push for a transfer until they get their man and Arsenal would accept a fee of around £17 million for the striker.
