Barcelona to bid for Wayne Rooney

25 June 2013 - 12:18

Barcelona have reportedly entered the race to sign Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney. Wayne Rooney will hold talks with new manager David Moyes by this week to decide where his future lies.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • There has been much speculation of Rooney leaving Manchester United despite the player and the club admiting that the 27-year old will not be sold this summer.

Rooney continues to be persistently linked with top clubs across the European Continent. As reports suggest in Spain, Barcelona have entered the pursuit for the England International's signature with the La Liga Champions ready to battle Chelsea and Real Madrid for the £25million striker.

The Catalan side are looking to offload David Villa sooner rather than later and want Rooney to replace the Spaniard. A Barca source said, “Rooney is precisely the type of attacker that would fit perfectly into the system. Defence starts from the front at Barca and Rooney works harder than anyone. His first touch, movement, control and vision are phenomenal and if he comes on the market then the club are certain to try to sign him.”
