Portsmouth's Kranjcar praised

29 October 2007 - 19:41

Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has praised Nico Kranjcar for his performances this season, and claimed he is just like Robert Prosinecki. Kranjcar has been one of Portsmouth's star performers from midfield this year.

  • Enzo Fernandez wants to leave Chelsea
  • Man Utd can finally sign Ederson for huge bargain fee
  • The 23-year-old Croatian playmaker had struggled last season after his 2006 summer switch to Fratton Park from Hajduk Split.

However, he has made a stunning improvement to take a permanent role in the Pompey midfield as Redknapp's side also enjoy being in the top half of the table.

“He’s been in a great run of form,” Redknapp said.

“He’s had a run in the side and made that place wide on the left his own.

“He’s got silky skills and the ability to change direction and produce something special. Niko’s got real quality and class – the Croatians seem to produce those kind of players.

“He reminds me a bit of Robert Prosinecki who was here when I first came to the club. If Niko’s anywhere near as good as him then he’ll be a fantastic player.”
