Liverpool still have big plans for Steven Gerrard

03 July 2013 - 07:51

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has no plans to move captain Steven Gerrard out of the first team. The 33-year-old is now entering the final part of his career but for club, he still remains an important star for his side.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The midfielder has been with Liverpool for his entire career, and will continue to be a part of manager Rodgers' first team plans.

"He's 33 now but Steven is still an integral part of what I'm trying to do here and will be for the next few years," Rodgers said.

"He had his operation towards the end of the season and the plan was for him to continue his rehab over the off-season.

"It's a big credit to him - he's worked tirelessly over the summer. He won't be too far away. He looks great and is in great condition."
