Real Madrid monitoring Marco Veratti

Real Madrid monitoring Marco Veratti

06 July 2013 - 06:07

Real Madrid's new manager Carlo Ancelotti could raid his former club Paris St Germain to sign talented defensive midfielder Marco Veratti. The Italian international has been persistently linked with a move away from the Parc Des Princes.

  • Chelsea & Arsenal handed blow in Bundesliga striker pursuit

  • The 20 year old joined PSG last year on a five year contract and has rapidly emerged to become one of the best players in the team. He is widely recognized as "the new Andrea Pirlo" and he shoulders much of the burden for Italy's national team's future hopes.

Juventus are amongst the teams interested in the player, but Veratti is known to favour a move to Spain. Veratti is also willing to stay at PSG, but wants a pay rise as soon as possible.

The player's agent confirmed that despite Real's interest, no contact has yet to be made for the player: "Carlo hasn't contacted Marco to tell him to join him, and Marco has repeated several times he wants to stay in Paris. That's his priority. It's just that his salary needs to be aligned with that of others, but we respect Paris and we won't go to war."
