Liverpool to make a move for Jorginho

08 July 2013 - 14:00

Liverpool could reportedly make an offer for highly rated creative midfielder Jorginho, who currently plays for newly promoted Serie A club Hellas Verona.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • After being beaten to the chase for Shakhtar Donetsk star Henrikh Mkhitaryan by Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, Brendan Rodgers is evidently keen to add to his midfield options and wishes to add the 21-year-old to his highly ambitious squad.

Rodgers, who has been extremely successful in finishing up deals for youngsters since his appointment at Liverpool last season, has gone about a plan to build a young squad in his chase of a European competition spot. The Italian midfielder, who has made one appearance for the Italy U21 side, has opted to play for the Italian national side at the international level despite of his Brazilian heritage.

Jorge Luiz Frello Filho, who is commonly known as Jorginho is currently valued at £7.5m and though he might not be star signing for the fans at the Merseyside but he represents Rodgers’ vision for the club, and could end up becoming the star who would turn the club's fortunes as they try to earn a European competition spot.
