Charlie Austin fails Hull City medical

09 July 2013 - 13:08

Burnley forward Charlie Austin has failed a medical during his long awaited transfer to Hull City. The newly promoted side were hopeful that a deal could be agreed for the striker this week, but a deal appears to have fallen through.

  • Back in January, Austin had a hamstring injury whilst the forward has also had an operation on his appendix in recent months.

Despite that, Steve Bruce, the Hull City manager confirmed that a deal is now a non-starter: "There has been a bit of a problem with his medical, which is the worst scenario for everybody concerned. It's an awful situation we find ourselves in but the medical is not great so it looks as if it is a non-starter at the moment.

"I think he is surprised because he has not missed many games over the last couple of years. It is a blow for him and a blow for us but these medicals are so stringent and obviously he has got a problem."
