Chelsea to give Grant deal

Chelsea to give Grant deal

30 October 2007 - 22:41

Avram Grant will be rewarded for his promising start as Chelsea manager with a new three-year contract. Grant has had to endure intense media scrutiny since replacing Jose Mourinho, with many casting doubts over his qualifications and ability to improve on the success already achieved by the 'Special One'.

  • Chelsea plan shock swoop for Sporting CP star
  • Arsenal & Chelsea want to sign Belgian winger
  • A close friend of club owner Roman Abramovich, he took over the reigns promising to bring entertaining football to Stamford Bridge and stamp his own identity on the team.

So far the Israeli has been working on the old terms and wages that he had as technical director at Chelsea, but a new deal could see a hike to around £1.5m-a-year with bonuses, and it is thought the financial issues will be finalised in the next few days.
