Leighton Baines eyes new Everton contract

15 July 2013 - 04:44

Leighton Baines is on the verge of signing a new contract with Everton. The Toffees' left back has been linked with a move to Man Utd all summer, but it is understood that the England international will put pen to paper on a three year contract extension.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • According to reports, Man Utd will not budge on their £12 million offer for the left back, with Everton seemingly asking for closer to £18 million for the defender. It is also uncertain whether or not Patrice Evra will be allowed to leave Old Trafford.

After some productive talks between Baines' agent and new Everton manager Roberto Martinez, there has been some progress and it is understood that the defender will sign a new contract within the next 7 days.
