Arsenals Giroud wants club to sign Luis Suarez

Arsenal's Giroud wants club to sign Luis Suarez

18 July 2013 - 07:11

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud is hopeful that Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez will move to the Emirates from Liverpool this summer and told reporters that he is confident he can strike up an excellent partnership with the Liverpool man.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • According to reports, Liverpool have received a bid from Arsenal for the 26-year-old striker, leaving Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski possibly heading for the exit door.

This has been quickly denied by French forward Giroud, who wants to strike up a partnership with the player instead of being replaced by Suarez: "Luis Suarez is someone with whom I could form a good understanding on the pitch. So I am in favour of him coming to Arsenal and I am not afraid of the competition for places his arrival would bring about.

"Arsenal's aim for the new season will be to qualify for the Champions League. And, given the fact that our rivals have changed their coaching staff, I don't see why we can't challenge for the title."
