Rodgers slams derisory Arsenal offer for Suarez

18 July 2013 - 13:39

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers admits that Arsenal have made an offer for Uruguay international striker Luis Suarez, but that the current offer falls some way short of their club valuation.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Suarez has been linked with a sensational move to Arsenal having telling reporters that he is unhappy at Anfield and ready to seal a switch to another club.

With Real Madrid amongst the teams interested, Suarez has had no shortage of suitors. The controversial forward is eagerly waiting to see if Liverpool and Arsenal can agree on a fee.

However, Liverpool manager Rodgers has confirmed that the current offer falls short of his true valuation for Suarez.

"There has been lots of speculation about Luis moving to another club but he is very much a Liverpool player," said Rodgers.

"We had an offer that was nowhere near what we value him at. Of course, he wants to work and play at the top level.

"But unless something drastic happens, he will be staying here. He has got three years left on his contract.

"He is a wonderful player, and still very much a Liverpool player. No matter who the player is, nobody is bigger than Liverpool Football Club.

"But Luis is a very important member of this squad and I am looking forward to working with him again this season."
