Manchester United to bid for Gareth Bale?

19 July 2013 - 01:07

The Premier League champions Manchester United are set to make a sensational offer for Gareth Bale as they try to set up a replacement for their striker Wayne Rooney who looks likely to leave this summer.

The Red Devils are hoping to make the Welsh International their first major signing of the summer according to the Daily Mirror. The club's Vice Chairman’s Ed Woodward returned from the pre-season tour on prior notice inorder to plan for the move.

Manchester United have not made a major signing this summer but it looks likely to change as they plan to lure Gareth Bale from North London club Tottenham for a fee in the region of £60m which would break the club's transfer record.

It will be interesting to see whether the Red Devils manage to entice Spurs in allowing the sale of their star player before the end of the summer transfer window.
