Manchester United to bid for Gareth Bale?

The Premier League champions Manchester United are set to make a sensational offer for Gareth Bale as they try to set up a replacement for their striker Wayne Rooney who looks likely to leave this summer.<br /><br />The Red Devils are hoping to make the Welsh International their first major signing of the summer according to the Daily Mirror.The club's Vice Chairman&rsquo;s Ed Woodward returned from the pre-season tour on prior notice inorder to plan for the move.<br /><br />Manchester United have not made a major signing this summer but it looks likely to change as they plan to lure Gareth Bale from North London club Tottenham for a fee in the region of &pound;60m which would break the club's transfer record.<br /><br />It will be interesting to see whether the Red Devils manage to entice Spurs in allowing the sale of their star player before the end of the summer transfer window.<br /><br /><br />
