Arsenal to bid for Luiz Gustavo?

20 July 2013 - 13:11

The Gunners have been linked with Brazilian star Luiz Gustavo as the Champions League winners Bayern Munich are willing to allow their midfielder to move. The North London club are reportedly set to make a bid for the player with a fee in the region of £8m according to the Metro.

  • Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is prepared to acquire the 25 year old Brazilian as he looks to add more quality to his squad. Gustavo is probably considering his options as he was already playing a second fiddle to Javi Martinez and the arrival of Thiago Alcatara has further limited his chances of attaining a regular starting spot.

Sources suggest that the new Bayern manager Guardiola is willing to accept offers for the player which is an indication that the Bundesliga side do not consider him as a part of their plan for the upcoming season.

Arsenal are still in the search for the perfect holding midfielder since the departure of Alex Song to the Catalans last summer and Luiz Gustavo could help add rigidity to their defensive setup, giving much needed protection to the likes of Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere.

Arsenal would have to fight out with the likes of Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg and Brazilian giants Corinthians for the Brazilian International's signature.
