Sunderland are hopeful that a transfer can be agreed with Napoli for left winger Lorenzo Insigne. A transfer offer has officially been confirmed by the player's agent, and manager Paolo Di Canio wants to wrap up a deal before the end of the month.
Growing interest from across Europe for Insigne means that Sunderland want to confirm a deal as soon as possible, and Sunderland have already made an enquiry for the Italy international.
"There has been an offer from Sunderland for Insigne," said agent Fabio Andreotte.
"We met with Napoli to discuss it, and Rafa Benitez assured us there is a role at the club for the player next season. He likes him a lot."
