Ancelotti denies having news about Higuain's move to Napoli

22 July 2013 - 12:23

Newly appointed Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has denied having any knowledge of Gonzalo Higuain's rumored move to Serie A side Napoli.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Higuain, 25 year old, has been looking for a new club this summer after finding his playing time get limited at the club last season. Premier League heavyweights Arsenal have been in pole position to sign the Argentine forward and had come to an agreement over personal terms with the player.

But Real Madrid increased their evaluation of their out of favor striker and the deal fell through. Earlier it was reported that Napoli, who are looking for a replacement for the recently departed Edinson Cavani, had an offer in the region of €30 million accepted by the Spanish giants but failed to agree terms with the player.

However, Ancelotti rubbished the claims and expressed his desire to keep the striker at the club.

"I spoke to him this week. He is a Real Madrid player and until we have news we have to consider him as a Real Madrid player and I would like him to stay with us.", Ancelotti told at the post match press conference after Real Madrid routed Bournemouth 6-0 in a pre season friendly.

"He is very important to us and nothing else - it is not my business to judge the price of a player."
