PSG defender keen on Zlatan stay

Brazil international and captainThiago Silva has urged his Paris Saint Germain team mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic to stay at the club amidst uncertainty over his future at the French capital club.

  • The highly rated defender believes that it is important for the club's European ambitions to hang on to him.



    He spoke to L'Equipe: "Will Zlatan stay? I don't know. You know how important he is.



    "He is a winner and a friend too. We had a phone call but we didn't talk about his future. I hope he will stay."



    The defender also talked about the team's chances in the Champions League the coming season. Silva is convinced that PSG need to keep the Ligue 1 top scorer to mount a serious challenge for European glory.



    "We were close to beating Barcelona in the Champions League last season. This year I expect us to do well again and I think we could win the Champions League."
