Chelsea Does Not Need To Sell Anyone To Sign Rooney, Claims Mourinho

28 July 2013 - 15:10

The Blues boss Jose Mourinho insists that the club’s pursuit of Wayne Rooney does not require him to offload any player in order to fund his signing. He said that the club could still afford a striker of Rooney’s valuation.

  • Arsenal to hijack Chelsea deal for English winger?
  • Arsenal & Chelsea battling to sign Ajax defender

  • "The club are working hard to keep the numbers in balance but we can still invest in a player who costs £20 million, £25m, £30m and not break the balance”

"We don't need to sell to do that”, Mourinho told in his interview.

Mourinho also claimed that he is calm about Rooney’s arrival to the Stamford Bridge as in the condition of the deal falling through, he still has proven strikers at his disposal. The Portuguese has already managed to sign the likes of Andre Schurrle and Marco van Ginkel to his squad.

It is not a hidden fact that Manchester United star Wayne Rooney is very determined to leave the Old Trafford side. He has also aroused the interest of other big clubs like Arsenal, who are also targeting another striker Luis Suarez.
