Chelsea set their sights on Roma defender Leandro Castan

29 July 2013 - 13:32

Premier League side Chelsea are eyeing a move for As Roma defender Leandro Castan. The Serie A defender is currently regarded as a replacement for David Luiz if the Brazilian International's move to Bayern Munich goes through.

 • Confirmed Man Utd line-up vs Liverpool, Matheus Cunha starts
 • Chelsea quoted price to sign Igor Thiago
 • According to reports from Tuttomercatoweb.com, the Blues are not keen on holding on their central defender and will be prepared to let him move should the right price come in.
26-year-old Leandro Castan arrived in the Italian Capital Rome just last summer, has impressed many clubs around the world with his performances for Roma. Though the Italian side are willing to keep the player, it is predicted that the player would be given a way out if an astonishing offer comes up as the club is going through a financial crisis.
Leandro is known for his strength and ability to win aerial duels which a key element that would make him the perfect fit for the Premier League.
Chelsea's new manager Jose Mourinho still hasn't gained the belief that Brazilian International defender Luiz is error proof and given his talent, one would feel that the Stamford Bridge side will be better off providing him with a role that suits his skills.
