Stoke goalkeeper Begovic confirms he is staying

31 July 2013 - 12:09

Bosnia international Asmir Begovic has confirmed that he would not be leaving the Britannia stadium this season amidst rumors linking him to top Premier League clubs.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • The 26 year old has been repeatedly linked with a move to Arsenal and Liverpool this summer but has finally cleared the air on his future.

"I always tried to stay focused and not concentrate on outside things," Begovic told The Sentinel.

"You never know for sure in football what can happen, of course, but as far as I am concerned, I am happy things are settled.

"I am happy to stay and I am not looking for a move. It's where I see my future."

Stoke City chairman Peter Coates aslo reaffirmed that the club has not received any formal bids for the highly rated goalkeeper and also hinted at a possible loan deal for Jack Butland.

"Begovic will be our goalkeeper at the start of the season," Coates told The Sun.

"And I would think we'd be definitely looking to get Jack Butland playing somewhere next season where we can improve his game."
