Fernando Morientes scored twice as Valencia beat Real Mallorca 2-0 in the Spanish Primera Liga. Valencia hired Ronald Koeman during last week, and this victory was watched by Koeman who is still on the sidelines until next week.

  • The Spanish international slotted home in the 45th minute after a classy cross from Miguel.



    He ensured the win two minutes past the hour mark thanks to a David Silva pin-point pass.



    Valencia are now fourth with 21 points level with Barcelona and Villarreal, both leading on goal difference and played a fewer game.



    Caretaker coach Oscar Fernandez continued on the bench for Valencia, despite a disastrous 5-1 home defeat to Real Madrid on Wednesday.



    New coach Ronald Koeman will start his mission with the Spanish giants with a UEFA Champions League game against Rosenborg in midweek.
