Fulham have made an improved offer for Aston Villa front man Darren Bent according to Sky sources.
The Cottagers have already had their initial bid of £4 million rejected by Villa but it is believed that Fulham's new offer of £5 million might tempt Paul Lambert's side into selling him.
Martin Jol have been in the look out this summer for a new striker to provide adequate support for Dimitar Berbatov and the 29 year old former Tottenham striker is believed to be his top target.
Newcastle are also chasing Bent and the out of favor Villa forward is set to hold talks with Joe Kinnear this weekend. But with reports emerging of a possible deal for Bafetimbi Gomis having been concluded, the Magpies might drop their interest in Darren Bent.
