Rooney To Hand In A Written Transfer Request

05 August 2013 - 14:48

After Manchester United rejected Chelsea’s improved offer for star striker Wayne Rooney, the player has dropped a transfer bombshell telling manager David Moyes that he wants a transfer this summer.

 • Chelsea plan shock swoop for Sporting CP star
 • Chelsea have clear stance on signing Victor Osimhen
 • Rooney is hell-bent to move away from the Old Trafford but his owners are adamant about convincing him to stay. The United boss David Moyes has met with the striker countless time after coming to power in order to persuade him to stay with the club. But Rooney is believed to have told him that he is disillusioned with life at the club after nine seasons and is in utter need of fresh challenge.
Rooney will reportedly back his verbal demand of a transfer by submitting a formal written request within this week.
The 27-year-old has already ruled out a move to foreign clubs so Chelsea remains his favourite destination. Jose Mourinho, who is in America with his squad has asked the club’s secretary Dave Barnard to stay back and lead the negotiations for the star striker.
The Blues are also willing to match Rooney’s present £240,000-a-week wages.
