Liverpool are reportedly ready to sell England winger Stewart Downing in a cut price deal worth around £5 million. There are numerous teams interested in the former Middlesbrough player, with Newcastle the reported favourites to secure his signature.

According to reports, Liverpool are ready to sell Downing ahead of the new season; the player has yet to have taken part in both of Liverpool's two most recent friendlies. It appears that manager Brendan Rodgers has decided it is time to part ways with the player.<br />

With talk of a potential Luis Suarez exit, Brendan Rodgers is ready to shuffle his squad ahead of the coming season and Stewart Downing is happy to have been linked with a move to Newcastle.<br />

The 29-year-old almost joined the Toon Army back in 2008, but at the last minute decided against a move to St James' Park.
