West Ham to bid for Stuart Downing?

10 August 2013 - 01:05

West Ham United have reportedly started negotiations with Liverpool over a £6m deal for Stewart Downing. The Hammers had showed interest in the winger earlier this summer, with their manager Sam Allardyce backing away from making a bid due to financial reasons.

West Ham have now made a renewed bid which could rise to £6m with add-ons, according to The Mirror. Stuart Downing is speculated to be in preliminary talks with the London outfit despite asserting earlier this summer that he would not consider an Anfield exit.

The only stumbling block for the Hammers would be the player's salary which needs to be sorted out between West Ham and Downing, as the winger currently earns around £80,000 per week at the Merseyside club...
